Step-by-Step Instructions for BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Frito Pie
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather your ingredients while the oven heats up.
- In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of margarine over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound of lean ground beef, using a spatula to crumble it as it cooks. Sauté until brown, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in 1 cup of diced yellow onions and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Pour in 1 cup of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce, stir until the beef is coated, and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Mix in 1 cup of real bacon bits.
- In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of Fritos corn chips across the bottom.
- Spoon the beef mixture over the Fritos, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top. Add ½ cup of bacon bits and 1 cup of French’s fried onions.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and fully melted.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
