Step-by-Step Instructions

  3. In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently, mixing until just combined; a few lumps are fine.
  5. Fill each muffin tin cup about three-quarters full with batter, adding mix-ins if desired.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown; a toothpick inserted should come out clean.
  7. Let cool in the tin for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and serve warm.
