Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt about 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Pour the melted butter into the bottom of your 9x13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together one cup of whole milk, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and one cup of granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add one cup of all-purpose flour, two teaspoons of baking powder, a pinch of salt, and two teaspoons of cinnamon. Mix until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter over the melted butter in the baking pan without stirring it in.
  6. Sprinkle one cup of lightly packed brown sugar evenly over the top of the batter.
  7. Carefully pour one cup of hot water over the top of the entire batter and sugar mixture. Do not stir.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbling.
  9. Mix together two tablespoons of granulated sugar and one teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle this mixture over the warm cobbler.
  10. Let the cobbler cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
