  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour if needed
  • 1/4 cup sugar coconut sugar offers a unique flavor twist
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast do not swap with traditional yeast without adjustments
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder for fluffy and light donuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to enhance flavors
Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or oat/coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract use pure vanilla for best results
Coating
  • 1/4 cup white sesame seeds or black sesame seeds for appearance
  • for frying oil vegetable or canola oil, heated to 350°F

Method
 

Making the Donuts
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients until well combined.
  2. Pour in the wet ingredients and stir gently until a soft dough begins to form.
  3. Gently fold in the sesame seeds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  4. Heat a deep frying pan over medium heat and add enough oil to submerge the donuts, aiming for 350°F.
  5. Drop dollops of dough into the oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels to keep them light and less greasy.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving warm.
