- Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 3-5 minutes). Optionally fold in mascarpone for extra richness.
- Layer chocolate cake pieces in the trifle dish followed by whipped cream and cherries. Repeat until all ingredients are layered, finishing with whipped cream and cherries on top.
